Your guest list is one of the most important wedding planning elements. This might seem like an exaggeration, but it’s not. Preparing a guest list for a wedding can be tricky because you can’t invite everybody.
So how do you decide who gets an invitation and who doesn’t? Here are some tips to help you prepare your guest list for your big day.
- Who Means the World to You?
First, sit with your partner and think up a list of all the people you would like to invite. This can include family members, close friends, and anyone else you think would be interested in attending your wedding. Also, invite anyone who holds a special place in your life
- Will You Keep It Small or Make It Large?
Once you’ve compiled a list of potential guests, narrow it down by considering how many people you can have at your wedding.
If you are planning a small, intimate wedding, you may not be able to accommodate everyone on your original list. And remember, a smaller guest list means fewer logistics to deal with and more intimacy on your big day.
Conversely, you can still have a guest list numbering up to 300 guests, but anything beyond that might be too much.
- Who Can Attend?
Be realistic about who will be able to attend. For example, if you have guests that live far away or have conflicting schedules, they may not be able to make it to your wedding.
Please don’t include them on the guestlist unless you’re confident they’ll be able to come. But for those who can attend, give plenty of notice so they can make travel arrangements in time.
- What’s Your Backup Plan?
Have a backup plan for last-minute RSVPs. It’s always better to have too many guests than too few, so have a few extra names on hand if some of your confirmed guests can’t make it at the last minute.
Preparing your guest list can be one of the most challenging parts of planning a wedding. But by following these tips, you can create a guest list that is both manageable and meaningful. As a result, your wedding will be more memorable for it.
If you still think you’ll find it challenging to make a wedding guest list, that’s one of the things I’m here for. A Very Lovely Wedding is a professional wedding planner for the modest couple. I’ll help you plan a wedding guest list and cater to all other aspects of your wedding planning.
I’ve proven time and time again that weddings are best celebrated when the focus is on the couple and the love that brought them together. So, I help couples celebrate a union entirely about self-expression; a story of two people from different worlds coming together to build their own world.
How do I do this? By using a few elements to alter the look and feel of your wedding. Whether you’ll have only a dozen or hundreds of people attending, I’ll take advantage of the beauty and freedom an intimate wedding offers to decorate and style your wedding. It will be an affair unique to you.
I offer rustic minimalism, classic romanticism, rustic softness, urban industrial minimalism, lush organic minimalism, and modern romantic minimalism. If you have ideas, don’t hesitate to tell me. I’ll use them to make your wedding an even more personal affair. My focus is always “quality over quantity.”
